The Soldiers Table Revealed
The third episode concluded with a dramatic pause and presented the initial group of characters who will separate from the primary party to undertake their independent quest, separate from the remaining groups.
The Soldiers table features Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).
Why Split the Party?
Considering a large ensemble, it was evident from the beginning that maintaining everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
This explains, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Introduction, connecting the characters’ stories before splitting into three separate parties: Fighters, Strategists, and Explorers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
As described by the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for participants who are drawn to a typically action-packed battle-oriented story mode where diplomatic options are rare.
Upon first impression, figures such as the hesitant healer the cleric might seem mismatched, but the events of the latest installment show why these specific adventurers are best suited for the warrior group.
Reasons to Leave
First, the party has a clear idea where to go next after a brutal initial meeting with the antagonists.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose death kicked off the story’s plot—exploited the enemy for his selfish purposes, invading the hidden lair, attacking Thimble, and swiping all the powerful objects to sell off.
The traitor then paid off his obligations and escaped to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd pursuing him.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each member has a specific drive to depart Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as the close ally and closest confidant, seeks vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the northern area and warns that it is a dangerous place.
- The strong character and The healer, having resisted his family’s wishes to execute the target and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their status as prominent individuals in House Halovar could help the team enter areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, Teor swore a eternal obligation to Wicander for his rescue and will now follow him anywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the authorities that govern Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making staying in the city too risky:
- The agile adventurer and The character are known criminals.
- The strong figure and The healer defied the powerful family and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
- The target is targeted for elimination by the family.
This leaves them few options but to journey toward the remote area in search of the traitor.
