19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hard surfaces

A comeback the Russian player secured his initial championship for nearly 30 months with a win over opponent Moutet in the competition title decider.

The athlete, a former world number one, has experienced a difficult period, winning just a single victory at the major tournaments and experiencing a meltdown at the American major.

The player's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and struggles with his service game in specific - resulted in him exiting of the top ten and eventually parting ways with long-time coach Gilles Cervara.

Currently training with Johansson and his other coach, he has steadily advanced in the past month - culminating in a tightly fought three-set triumph over opponent Moutet.

This marks the player's initial trophy after the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard surface after March of the previous year.

The win also signifies he has achieved 21 titles at twenty-one various tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a tournament with my children together, so to win a title is especially meaningful," said ranked player Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my second daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I won when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had been defeated in his last six finals, including in Halle in the past months.

Medvedev's counter-punching strategy and recurring emotional displays on court had led observers to doubt if his ability to compete at the top level was finished.

But the athlete has altered his approach in recent weeks, striving to approach the net and perform positively, supported by an enhanced serve.

He recovered from a deficit in the opening set against the tricky opponent, securing 4 of the concluding five games to gain the advantage.

The pair traded breaks in the second set before Moutet, striving for his initial professional victory, gained dominance to force a final set.

The opponent defended four initial break points in a tight third set before the Russian broke to fifteen to secure the win.

Fittingly, Medvedev secured the title with a rally at the net, with the Frenchman failing to handle a return after a lengthy match.
