Around 25,000 residences in Queensland's southeast found themselves without power on Monday morning after severe thunderstorms impacted the state, bringing wind gusts reaching 109 kilometers per hour.
Large Frozen Precipitation and Broad Impact
Locals observed large ice chunks reaching sizes of 7cm in some areas. The Bureau of Meteorology verified that various areas across Queensland had been affected by significant hail.

Victoria's Weather Woes
Meanwhile, around 1,000 energy customers in Victoria also faced electricity disruptions after Melbourne experienced its heaviest rainfall in over 500 days.
State Emergency Services handled nearly 600 requests for assistance across the state, mainly for building damage but also for downed trees and inundation.

Damp conditions were forecast to persist along significant areas of Queensland's east this next several days as a low-pressure trough continued to attract humidity against the shoreline.
Tuesday was predicted as the wettest day, with ongoing thunderstorm potential expected across multiple regions of both regions.

Medical authorities alerted that there was an higher risk of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the state's northern country region, especially given the existing atmospheric conditions.
