Roughly 50 automobiles have been covered with what seems to be human blood in the German municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Vehicles, exterior walls and postboxes were vandalized, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they stated in a statement.
Law enforcement state they were notified late on Wednesday, when a individual discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored substance.
The fluid had been placed in the pattern of a banned symbol, they reported.
Officers then discovered numerous other marked automobiles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation prohibiting the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Police report preliminary tests show the liquid was most likely human blood.
"Currently there is no lead as to where it came from; authorities are not yet aware of any physical harm in connection with the incident," they stated.
Municipal representatives announced they were trying "to solve the mystery" and have requested to the residents for details.
A senior representative commented the incident made him stunned and needed to be addressed rapidly.
"This incident strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reopens the pain of the far-right terrorist attack in 2020," he wrote on online, mentioning the killing of nine victims by a shooter focusing on individuals of migrant background in five years prior.
